Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.
In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Football and Family Experiences
Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was still Forest manager.
So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four games.
My son told me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.
Fulham have got plenty of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.
But I am not do that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
