Renowned Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA on Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a message.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several well-known programs, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
