President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Injured Guard Members to White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

White House Call

The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Mourners came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the government to suspend asylum applications and cease issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to speak to his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
