While the majority of corporate boards draw up five-year plans, the Rothermeres, having compiled a formidable media empire over more than a century, are accustomed to thinking in terms of generations.

A Much-Anticipated Bid

It was in the year 2004 that the 4th Viscount Rothermere, the tall, curly haired owner of the Daily Mail, was unsuccessful in his bid to acquire the Telegraph titles.
