Cowboys Defensive Lineman Marshawn Kneeland Dies at Age 24
He was the 56th selection in the 2024 NFL draft
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the draft in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, with four starting appearances.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th selection of the 2024 NFL Draft after his college career for Western Michigan.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the passing of a player who "gave his all" into every moment.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL stated it is "deeply saddened" by the news.
